Causes Of Yeast Infection

Vaginal yeast infection in women could cause extreme itching, burning, irritation and heavy discharge. Common causes of the yeast infection in women include medicines and products which help to create a condusive environment for the growth of yeast which is already, naturally present in the vagina. These medicines could include antibiotics, steroids and also birth control pills. Also products which are usually used to clean up the vagina or other scented products could cause the infection.These alter the vaginal environment and cause naturally present yeast to overgrow.

Another reason for occurance of yeast infection could be hormonal changes. These changes usually take place during pregnancy or before the menstruation cycle. Such hormonal changes usually donot persist for long and balance is attained once the cycle or duration is over. But othe hormonal imbalances could occur due to certain diseases or illnesses which could possible go worse with time and must be treated.

Besides this, people who have a weak immune system are more prone to getting yeast infections. People affected with grave diseases like AIDS, cancer, diabetese etc. have weak immune systems due to strong medications and treatments. Due to this their bodies are unable to resist the spread of undesirable bacteria and growth of fungus through out the body including sensitive organs like lungs, heart, liver and kidneys. This growth of fungus in various areas could lead to the fatal candidal disease. Statisticcs show that 75 percent of the people affected with this disease do not survive for long.

Also drug addicts who use unhygenic needles to inject drugs into their bloodstream get affected with yeast infection more frequently. The reson for this is that yeast enters the body through these dirty needles and causes infections in various parts of the body. Another common reason for yeast infection in women is tight clothing and panties. By wearing tightly fitted clothes, you stop the air going into the vagina which is necessary to keep the bacteria count balanced. This changes the vaginal environment and hence causes abnormal growth of yeast. Also it is prefferable to wear soft materials like cotton and avoid silks and satins as they again block the access of air.

Also the use of scented pads or certain tampons can give birth to yeast infection. Such commercial products contain harmful chemicals like bleach so it is highly recommended that pure organic products be used so as to avoid the risk of yeast infection. Besides all this, it is also possible to get yeast infection through sexual intercourse as both men and women could be infected with it. If your partner is suffering from yeast infection, than there is a high possibility that you will catch it too.

As far as yeast infection in children is concerned, use of very tight diapers and continuously occuring diaper rashes are a common cause. Thus it is important to keep all these causes of yeast infection in mind and take every possilble measure to prevent yeast infection from occurring.
